Connecticut’s Christmas town, Bethlehem, kicks off the holiday season Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5, with a festival on the green featuring strolling carolers, tree lighting, kids’ activities and more. (Bring your holiday cards for a special Bethlehem postmark.) Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Information: ChristmasTownFestival.com.

Visitors are also invited to Bethlehem’s Regina Laudis Abbey on Flanders Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily to view the 18th-century Neapolitan creche and to shop in the Monastic Art Store, which features crafts, beauty products, cheeses, jams and jellies, herbal teas, flavored vinegars, herbs, honey and other products made at the abbey.
