Sunday, June 26 is Connecticut Historic Gardens Day, and 14 sites around the state are opening for special activities and events — many of them free. Visitors can stop by the Arnold House Museum in Haddam for herb lectures, crafts and light refreshments; spend the afternoon painting en plein air at Weir Farm National Historic Site in Wilton, (free-to-use watercolor supplies available); or take a free guided tour of the formal parterre garden at Roseland Cottage in Woodstock. Activities take place from noon to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Information: www.cthistoricgardens.org.
