One day after the next annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio, three seventh-graders from South Florida will play in another football all-star game on the same field.
Jack Chapman, 13, Keldrick Hooks, 13, and Cajuan Smith, 14, have been selected to play in the 2013 Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl on Jan. 6. The game is the premier national showcase for youth football players just as the U.S. Army game is one of the most prestigious national all-star games for high school seniors.
The nation’s top 48 players, spanning three age groups, are chosen for the Eastbay game each year.
In addition, Chapman, a center and long snapper from Boca Raton Middle School, Hooks, an offensive lineman from Deerfield Beach Middle School, and Smith, an outside linebacker from Riviera Beach, were all named a Football University All-Star – an honor given to the nation’s elite players grades 6 to 12.
Chapman was also named a Pop Warner Academic All-American with a 4.0 grade-point average.
