Philip Rivers' offense was hard-earned

The pressure on the Chargers veteran gunslinger was consistent, even though he used an uncanny ability to buy every tenth of a second to release the ball, creating many opportunities. However, the pressure ratcheted up in the fourth quarter, with a body-slam sack by Cameron Wake and Jared Odrick an emphatic play and then a huge sack by Olivier Vernon to knock San Diego out of field goal range with the Dolphins up 20-16 with less than five minutes left.
