Barely two weeks into 2014, and Broward Republican Chairman Tom Truex’s top goals for the year – stop internal party fighting over social issues and focus on Democrats – aren’t going so well.
Earlier this week, Truex confirmed that the party secretary, Cara Pavalock, resigned and returned to her home state of Connecticut. This came after months of criticism of Pavalock after she publicly voiced support for Republicans who said they favor same-sex marriage.
Her critics aren’t heeding Truex’s wishes. In an email circulated Wednesday night, Jack Gillies, co-founder of Tea Party Fort Lauderdale and a Republican Party committeeman, suggested that the Sun Sentinel Broward Politics blog headline, “Broward Republican Party secretary resigns,” could have been better – from his point of view.
His suggestion: “Minority Liberal Progressives within the Broward Republican Party delivered blow.”
In his email, which asks the question, “Was She Vetted Properly Before Being Elected?” Gillies dissects Pavalock’s views, using her Facebook likes.
“Hmmm? Let's Look Into Her FACEBOOK Inspirational People ‘Likes,’ “ Gillies wrote.
Among the suspect likes: Former Supreme Court justices William Brennan and John Paul Stevens and Justice Stephen Breyer, Jack Kevorkian, the assisted suicide doctor from Michigan.
Gillies goes on to ask:
“Does Cara Pavalock's FACEBOOK Page look like that of a Republican?
“Was Cara Pavalock vetted properly before being elected to the BREC Board?
“Why are a 'select few' on the BREC Board running cover for Cara Pavalock?
“I have an idea for the future, let's band together to elect people who support our CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN PLATFORM, not people who speak out and work against it!”
Gillies, who describes himself in the email as a “protector of the US Constitution, Christian, Social Conservative, and Lifelong Republican. Jack has no use for namby-pamby RINO’s and Liberal Progressives,” also links to a Jan. 9 article he wrote for the website Clash Daily.
The Progressives are celebrating victory as they continue to roll over the hapless Republican Party leadership nationally, as well as in Broward County Florida. Not a shot was fired, barely a whimper was heard, just little white hankies with gay rainbows being waved in surrender by the meek leadership within the GOP!
Political Correctness has neutered the so-called conservative leaders into submission. The term “so-called” is being used here because they are NOT conservatives at all, they are liberal progressives. They think they speak for Republicans nationally, but they don’t. Is this arrogance or ignorance?
At just about every level, especially in Broward County, the so-called Republican leadership continues to ignore the Republican Platform by making hard lefts, compromising our principles and values, while chasing their failed “big tent” philosophy. How well did that work in the last two presidential campaigns?
The Republican Liberal Progressive “big tent” embraces un-Godly abortion and sexual deviancy, along with those that put America’s national security at risk, instead of energizing our “largest tent” in the land, the church. Are the LP’s trying to change the platform to mirror that of the immoral party on the left?
I’ll email Pavalock to see if she has any comment and Gillies to see if he has more to say. If they respond, I’ll post updates to this blog post.
