The attraction: Kayaks and canoes are for rent at the Anne Kolb Nature Center and Toby's Concession Services at West Lake Park.
The experience: Paddle among the mangroves and take in the wildlife, from herons and egrets to the occasional raccoon. The water ranges from 2 feet to 6 feet depending on the tides.
Details: 1200 Sheridan St., Hollywood. Boat rental available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. $15 an hour; $20 for two hours, $30 for four hours; $50 a day. Prices include boat, paddles and life jackets. Parent/guardian signature required for anyone 16 or 17 years old to go alone; ages 15 and younger require an adult on the boat.
Food: Snacks for sale. Or bring your own treats. No alcohol on boats.
A tip: The kayaks are open at the top with drain holes in the bottom. Your butt will get wet so dress accordingly.
