First there was the Missoni craze. Then came the scramble for Jason Wu. But Dec. 1, Target will create the biggest melee since Cabbage Patch dolls hit the market in 1984. Target will join forces with luxury retailer Neiman Marcus for the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection.
The limited-edition holiday collection will include 50 gifts from coveted designers such as Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Brian Atwood, Tracy Reese and 18 others. The line, which costs $7.99-$499.99, will consist of everything from fashion accessories to home goods and will be sold at Neiman Marcus and Target stores as well as Neimanmarcus.com and Target.com.
As part of the collaboration, a press release stated, “Target and Neiman Marcus are donating a total of $1 million to the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).”
Ever since Missoni flew off Target’s shelves last year, I started a personal bucket list of designers I had hoped would team up with Target and from the looks of this line up, it appears Santa got all my holiday requests early. The only question is, will I have to put on Karl Lagerfeld's fingerless gloves and start punching people to get it? Stay tuned.
