It has often been said before: The measure of a civilization is how it treats its weakest members.
A mother was in agony as she got her first look at surveillance video of her 13-year-old autistic son wetting himself and crying out while being manhandled on a school bus, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Her son can be heard repeatedly saying, "Ow, you're hurting me," while crying and reaching behind his head to try and grab the seat belt harness that was riding up around his neck. The harness left bruises on his throat, according to the report.
This went on for much of the child's 45-minute ride on the school bus.
School bus assistant Darryl Blue is now accused of pulling on the harness while sitting in the seat behind the boy while joking with bus driver, who is heard laughing off camera.
It would be more difficult to prosecute the driver of the bus because she never touched the teen, according to Broward Sheriff's Sgt. Aimee Alexander.
