Miramar's Rickae Jinks and Dillard's Kayla Wright may be busy helping their teams prepare for regional semifinal games on Tuesday, but last week Jinks had a chance to celebrate a pretty big accomplishment--her signing with Tulsa.
While Jinks officially signed back in November during the early signing period, she was honored during a National Signing Day ceremony at Miramar this past Wednesday. For her, it was an opportunity to look forward and that includes having the opportunity to play with a familiar face: Wright.
Wright also signed with Tulsa back during the early signing period and now both girls are looking forward to taking a little bit of South Florida basketball with them to Oklahoma.
“We went on our official visit together and when she committed, it was like I committed all over again,” said Jinks on National Signing Day. “I’ll be up there with someone that I know. I wasn’t too scared to go up there and meet new people on my own. The team is very nice, but when Kayla committed, it was like, ‘I’m not the only one going up there and I’ve already got my roommate.’”
Jinks and her Miramar teammates take on Flanagan in a regional semifinal on Tuesday while Wright and three-time defending state champion Dillard take on American Heritage.
