If you're new to the genre of restaurants known as gastropubs, you'll do no better than Pubbelly. It's a little bit Latin (pork-belly croquetas with pumpkin aioli), a little Korean (kimchi fried rice) and all-around excellent.
Owners Andreas Schreiner, Jose Mendin and Sergio Navarro have gone on to open a sushi restaurant, a Spanish tapas restaurant, a steakhouse, an Italian restaurant (recently taken over by its chef) and a French-inspired spot called L'echon Brasserie. They are definitely on a roll.
