The Dolphins made alterations to the defense with the intention of producing more impact plays. So far the sacks per game have increased from 2.6 in 2012 to 3.1. In eight games the defense has recovered three more fumbles than last season, and they have already exceeded last years' 10 interceptions. Brent Grimes and Dimitri Patterson, who have accounted for six of the team¿s 11 interceptions, have clearly been an upgrade. Opposing quarterbacks have a 76.6 passer rating against the Dolphins, which is a drastic improvement from last season. And expect the unit to improve now that Cameron Wake appears to be nearly recovered from his knee injury.
