Deputies: Man stole flowers from grave to give to his girlfriend

Chivalry is not dead.

An officer stopped David James Lee, a 44-year-old Jacksonville transient, dead in his tracks at a cemetery after noticing Lee had some flowers with dirt stuck to them, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, reports The Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville.

Lee allegedly told the officer that he had “ripped them out of the soil next to a tombstone” to give to his girlfriend, according to police.

This is Lee's 7th booking at the Duval County Jail since 2008.
