When deputies responding to a disturbance call after 11:00 p.m. on Sunday arrived at the Red Lion Pub in Indian Rocks Beach, they found three victims with stab wounds and the suspect, later identified as James Rudolph Klingbeil, being held down by customers at the bar, according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Klingbeil had stopped by the bar earlier for a drink but the bartender, a 32-year-old woman, refused to sell alcohol to him as he was already very drunk. After a verbal feud, Klingbeil then left, deputies said.
The 50-year-old Bellaire Beach man then allegedly walked over to a nearby grocery store to buy a fillet knife before returning to the Red Lion, where he got into another feud with the bartender -- but this time he pulled out the knife and attacked her, the release stated.
A trio of male bar patrons who had tried to help the bartender were injured as Klingbeil also cut them, the release stated.
Eventually patrons were able to take Klingbeil down to the ground and get the knife away from him.
The bartender was treated a hospital for non-life threatening multiple lacerations.
Klingbeil was arrested for attempted murder, two-counts aggravated battery and battery and transported to the slammer.
This is Klingbeil's 6th booking into the Pinellas County Jail since September 2006, records show.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
