Delta pulls plug on new Lauderdale-Mexico City route

Sun Sentinel

Delta Air Lines has pulled the plug on its recently announced new service between Fort Lauderdale and Mexico City, which was set to start July 2.

Officials at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport said they were recently informed of the airline’s decision, but couldn’t say what prompted the move.

In an email statement Friday, Delta spokesman Anthony Black cited “underwhelming response” as the rationale.

The cancellation comes a little more than a month after the Atlanta, Ga.-based carrier on Feb. 14, announced plans for the new route.
