Two weeks after his disappearance, his severed head was discovered in a  canal near Vero Beach; his body never was found.  His dad, <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB0017764423" title="John Walsh" href="/topic/entertainment/television/john-walsh-PECLB0017764423.topic">John Walsh</a>, later became an advocate for victims of violent crimes and the host of the TV's <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ENTTV000000115275" title="America's Most Wanted (tv program)" href="/topic/entertainment/television/americas-most-wanted-%28tv-program%29-ENTTV000000115275.topic">America's Most Wanted</a>.
