If you’re looking for an authentic electronic dance music scene north of South Beach, you’ve got to leave it up to Fate. The impressive new hot spot nestled in the center of The Village at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach is an impressive addition to the casino and horse-racing complex, which is already home to key stores such as Pottery Barn and Z Gallerie and established eateries including Yard House and Brio Tuscan Grille.
“We’re a sushi nightclub,” said Ramzi Naber, who partnered with world renowned DJ Markus Schulz and restaurateur Joe Franco to open Club Fate. “It was fate that brought us together at one time, so Club Fate was the perfect name for us. No one else is thinking about bringing South Beach to the Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood crowd. We wanted to provide something different and make a concept that’s only available in South Beach available here.”
While many nightclubs flip flop between electronica, hip-hop and rock nights, Club Fate is sticking to EDM or electronic dance music. Schulz had a strong influence in the musical direction the club is steadfast in going. The German-born house and deep trance DJ travels the globe performing his high-energy sets and developing new turntable talent through his label, Coldharbour Recordings. Schulz is set to spin at the club’s grand opening Thursday, July 11. Coldharbour artists will also perform at the club on Trancemission Thursdays, beginning July 18, in addition to other local and internationally known mix masters.
“Markus keeps us really focused,” Naber said. “We have Industry Mondays where people in the biz get 30 percent off their entire check. Thursdays will really be Markus’ baby with DJs from his label. Friday night is ladies night and on Saturday, Markus came up with Down The Rabbit Hole Saturdays, which features progressive and house music. Sunday is our classic house night where all the DJs will hang out and chill. We’re closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.”
While the club is very upscale and offers top quality sushi and sashimi along with premium cocktails and wines, Naber and his business partners still wanted to offer club goers a good deal. “We don’t want to kill customers with the prices,” Naber said. “We offer good drink prices and bottle specials in a classy, upscale atmosphere.”
Aside from eats and libations, Naber says the main focal point of the club’s interior is the DJ booth. The trio of investors put together an elaborate sound system for the club to ensure dance music lovers the highest quality sound at the venue. “Our sound system is the Lamborghini of sound,” Naber added. “Our lighting is also incredible.”
Hallandale Beach-based DJ Kreep has been spinning sets at the club along with Grube & Hovsepian and KhoMha. “We have spent the past five months building this club and developing a super sound system. It’s amazing to be able to bring a club like this to this area,” Kreep said.
