A woman tried to smuggle five pounds of cocaine through the Hidalgo Port of Entry under a hairpiece. "She had it underneath the wig," Armando Goncalvez, a supervisory inspector with U.S. Customs, told The Associated Press in 2000. "It seemed unusual, like a really bulky hairdo. I don't think that had happened in Hidalgo in the past."
