Democratic activist and community organizer Sean Phillippi will join the county payroll in a month, as an aide to incoming Commissioner Tim Ryan of Dania Beach.
Phillippi is behind the Awake Broward group, which you can check out on Facebook or Twitter. They push Democratic causes.
Here's one of Phillippi's few Tweets from his own account:
"All I have to say to @allenwest is don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you as you tuck tail and run out of Broward County!"
Ryan said he has "very good people skills and organizational skills.''
Ryan said he also will hire a former legislative aide from his past as a state representative -- Kristin Carter, currently aide to Sen. Nan Rich, D-Weston.
He also might hire a part-time community liaison to tap into neighborhood meetings, of which there are many in that southeast Broward district, especially in Fort Lauderdale.
Ryan will take the District 7 office where John Rodstrom has placed his briefcase for 20 years. Rodstrom's staff is skilled, also, Ryan said.
But, "these are people I've worked with, and I'm comfortable with, and I think will do a good job,'' he said.
County commissioners each have an office budget of $341,530, out of which their $92,097 salary also comes.
