American Airlines on Thursday announced plans for new daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport and Malpensa Airport in Milan, Italy beginning Nov. 21.

"As the home to a growing Italian population and one of the world's key fashion industry markets, Miami continues to be a preferred destination for travel from Milan," said Marilyn DeVoe, American's Vice President - Miami, in a statement. "This new route enhances our expanding global network and provides our European customers a gateway to many Caribbean and Latin America destinations from our Miami hub."

Customers can book travel on the new route starting June 2.

The flight from MIA will depart 5:55 p.m. ET to arrive in Milan at 9:35 a.m. CET the next day.

Returning it’ll leave Milan 11:25 a.m. local time for arrival in Miami at 4:40 p.m.

American will operate a 218-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the new route.

"With this new route, American Airlines demonstrates its commitment to enhancing Miami's position as a premier travel destination and helps to advance the area's economic growth," said Carlos A. Gimenez, Mayor, Miami-Dade County.
