Linda B. Carter has been President/CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward since 1997. The Foundation provides leadership on community solutions and fosters philanthropy that connects people who care with causes that matter. Under her leadership the Foundation's assets have grown $150 million in 450 individual charitable Funds resulting in more than $60 million granted to community solutions during its 29 year history. Current priorities include increasing high school graduation rates, expanding civic entrepreneurship, building community through the arts and strengthening the leadership of the nonprofit sector.
Linda led the Community Foundation to become one of the first community foundations in the nation to be deemed in full compliance with National Standards for accountability, transparency and other best practices. Active on a local and national level, Linda is considered a thought-leader in her field. She has served as a founding board member and president of the Community Foundations of Florida, the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Broward County Chapter and the Planned Giving Council of Broward. Among her honors, Linda has been awarded the Ultimate CEO award presented by the SFBJ and President's Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the North Broward Chapter of Links, Inc, and Outstanding Fund Raising Professional by the Association of Fundraising Professional. She has served as Board member of Jack and Jill Children's Center and the Museum of Discovery and Science.
Prior to the Foundation she served as Executive Vice President of the Museum of Discovery and Science and was part of the leadership team that led its growth to its current location. She is a native of Broward County and graduated from the University of Florida. Linda resides in Coral Ridge with her husband Michael.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
