L.A. Hardy gets a big check at Mardi Gras

L.A. Hardy received a big symbolic check Saturday for winning the Mardi Gras Comedy Challenge in Hallandale Beach from a field of 210 entrants.

The prize also included opening for Caroline Rhea at the casino and having his photo taken with Rhe and Mardi Gras President Dan Adkins (OK, that's not a prize, really...)

Hardy, 51, lived in Los Angeles for about 12 years, appearing on BET’s “Comic View,” ABC’s “According to Jim” and other TV shows. He moved to Port St. Lucie about four years ago, when he began working at the Improvs in West Palm Beach, Miami and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
