Two South Florida festivals will celebrate fitness of the body and mind with outdoor yoga and live music on Saturday.
Starting at 10 a.m., Fort Lauderdale's Huizenga Plaza will become the practice grounds for three rounds of four simultaneous classes including kundalini, vinyasa and power yoga, during the third annual YogaFest.
Attendees can pay $20 for an all-day pass granting access to all sessions, taught by local instructors and studio owners. After 3:30 p.m., entry costs $5 and includes three afternoon classes accompanied by live music. The lineup includes Indian chanting group the Mayapuris, Deerfield Beach ska-reggae band the Resolvers and Miami's Spam Allstars closing out the night at 8. Check 1111Yoga.com for details.
For a free communal yoga experience, head to the Midtown Peace, Love and Wellness Music Festival in Palm Beach Gardens. The music and yoga demonstrations start at 2 p.m. with a group of Bikram yogis.
The Ellameno Beat's Jensen Beach-born reggae is first on the music lineup, followed by dance-rock group Krisp and Latin-funk band Suenalo from Miami. The Nouveaux Honkies' modern Americana will be the night's last act.
The PBG fest is heavy on healthy, but beer lovers can head to the bar for a selection of crafts and domestic brews. See MidtownPGA.com for details.
