Coming Friday to Dunkin’ Donuts menu boards: Glazed doughnut breakfast sandwiches.
You heard that right. It’s a fried egg and cherrywood-smoked bacon inside a split glazed yeast ring doughnut.
With 360 calories and 20 grams of fat, it’s not the most healthful way to start the day. But fast food restaurants have figured out that outrageous sells.
Remember KFC’s 600-calorie Double Down sandwich? Two fried pieces of boneless chicken sandwich bacon, two kinds of melted cheese and the Colonel’s secret sauce. It has 36 grams of fat and a whopping 1620 milligrams of sodium. It’s found a regular spot on the KFC menu.
McDonald’s Big Breakfast with Hotcakes — buttermilk biscuit, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns and hot cakes — has 1090 calories, 56 grams of fat and 2150 milligrams of sodium. The American Heart Association recommends 1,500 milligrams per day.
The Glazed doughnut breakfast sandwich arrives on National Doughnut Day when participating Dunkin’ Donut locations will offer guests a free doughnut of their choice (while supplies last) with the purchase of any beverage.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
