Name: StickNFind Sticker
What it is: a quarter-sized Bluetooth 4.0 adhesive tag that can be attached to almost anything that can get lost, from luggage to a kid or a cat. Tags pair with iOS devices and Android devices that have Bluetooth 4.0/Bluetooth SMART/Bluetooth Low Energy capability via StickNFind's free app, which displays a kind of radar screen with measured ranges marked. Each sticker weighs 0.15 ounces, has a Bluetooth range of 150 feet and includes an optional key fob mount to attach it to keys, a collar, a shoelace, etc. A standard watch battery powers each sticker and lasts about a year. A buzzer and a light in the sticker help you find things in the dark.
The good: The free
app sold me on StickNFind. You can set an alert, create a virtual leash or follow the app's radar to find a paired sticker. I tested a pair of stickers on luggage and got an alert from the app when my suitcase hit the luggage carousel. I wish I had used the second sticker on my wallet or car keys, because it fell off my backpack's water-repellent fabric.
The bad: They're pricey, and packs are limited to two or four stickers. I wish there were larger packs, because I misplace many things. If you attach the sticker to any kind of fabric, make sure it actually adheres.
Cost: $49.99 for a pair or $89.99 for four.
