Indianapolis saw 96 criminal homicides in 2012, the same number as in 2011, the Indianapolis Police Department told RedEye. Separately, the city recorded 13 justifiable homicides in 2012 and 12 justifiable homicides in 2011, which include police-involved shootings and killings in self-defense.
Indianapolis recorded 35 homicides including five justifiable homicides in the first three months of this year compared to 25 homicides during the same period last year, Indianapolis police said.
