MTV Movie Awards: You wanna talk shirtless awards?

For its 2013 movie awards, MTV has added two new categories to help measure true excellence in filmmaking: Best Shirtless Performance and Best Musical Moment.

What do you expect from an awards ceremony that honors Best Kiss, Best WTF Moment and Best Scared-As-S**t Performance?

And more to the point, only Channing Tatum from "Magic Mike" was nominated for Best Shirtless Performance?! Although I have no complaint about most of the other nominees save Ted, what about Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey, Adam Rodriguez and Alex Pettyfer? (Or, as I call him, Alex Prettyfer.)

Anyway, on Tuesday the network announed the nominees for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, which will air April 14. Quentin Tarantino's slavery drama "Django Unchained" and Seth MacFarlane's teddy-bear comedy "Ted" top the heap with seven nominations each, while David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" scored six nominations and the Batman epic "The Dark Knight Rises" grabbed five nominations.

Photos: Shirtless (TV) men of 2012

In the waning hours of 2012, I've been thinking about what's been on TV the past year. Or should I say, what's been taken off on TV--and by whom. I give you the shirtless men of the year, which isn't necessarily the best of the year, but those I missed or thought we should revisit. Happy New Year!...

Q&A: Illinois native 'Parks and Recreation' star Nick Offerman on 'Somebody Up There Likes Me'

On NBC’s fantastic “Parks and Recreation,” Nick Offerman has turned Ron Swanson into such a spectacular, hilarious symbol of contained emotion and old-fashioned, meat-and-potatoes masculinity that it feels necessary to establish that Nick Offerman is not Ron Swanson.
