Fox sets fall TV series premiere dates

Chicago TV viewers get their first look at Fox's new Chicago filmed and set drama, "The Mob Doctor," on Sept. 17, the network announced Monday.

The series, about--you guessed it--a doctor for the mob, stars Jordana Spiro of "My Boys" fame as the titular doctor who is forced to work for the mob to pay off her brother's gambling debts and keep mobsters from killing him. Evanston native Zach Gilford ("Friday Night Lights") co-stars along with Floriana Lima, Zeljko Ivanek, William Forsythe, James Carpinello, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Jesse Lee Soffer and Wendy Makkena. The drama begins filming in and around Chicago in July.

"The X Factor" kicks off Fox's fall season with a two-night season premiere Sept. 12 and 13. The season premiere of "Glee" follows it in its new Thursday night slot at 8 p.m. Sept. 13.
New comedies "The Mindy Project," starring "The Office" alum Mindy Kaling, and "Ben and Kate" will join "New Girl" on Tuesdays starting Sept. 25 to form a new comedy block.
