The majority of the movie "Groundhog Day" was filmed in Woodstock, Ill., which was quite possibly the most exciting thing that had ever happened in the teeny tiny town where I grew up.
I was in fourth grade when they filmed the Bill Murray flick. Some of my friends were chosen to be extras. Jealous! (If you watch the snowball fight scene, you'll see some of my classmates). It was so fun seeing our already-adorable town transform into the even more adorable "Punxsutawney, Pa." with facades covering the storefronts in our downtown square. My friends and I would hear about a scene being filmed in a public area and we'd rush there to see if we could catch a glimpse of Murray or Andie MacDowell.
