Max Payne 3

XB360, PS3, PC 3 1/2 stars out of 4 Hand it to Rockstar, the company knows how to tell violent adult stories better than Hollywood, which produced the painful 2008 movie adaptation of "Max Payne" starring Mark Wahlberg. "Max Payne 3" crackles with the energy of its action-packed game play, darkly witty dialogue and the exotic scenery of its urban Brazilian setting. The first-time addition of competitive multiplayer is nice, but this sequel works best when it's busy showing the trials of the older, more grizzled, booze addict of a title character. The years have not been particularly kind to Max Payne the character, but they've surely been good for the game in which he stars. Handout
