( Lenny Gilmore/RedEye / January 10, 2013 ) Cocktails Avondale's Yusho was one of the most-loved restaurants of 2012, thanks in no small part to beverage director Alex Bachman's cocktails, which will take center stage at Logan Square's Billy Sunday (3143 W. Logan Blvd). The 50-seat bar will open before the end of January and offer more than a dozen cocktails -- two of which will be carbonated tonics on draft -- as well as food former G.E.B. chef John Vermiglio dubbed "Midwest supper club." Three Dots and a Dash, the tiki bar headed up by Paul McGee (pictured) below Bub City (435 N. Clark St.), is expected to open by late February. In June or July, the Mercadito Hospitality crew and Tavernita chef Ryan Poli hope to debut Tippling Hall, serving comfort food and serious cocktails courtesy of their resident mixology guys, the Tippling Brothers. Given its location in the former Hop Haus space (646 N. Franklin St.), which comes with a 4 a.m. license and a location near River North clubs, expect Tippling Hall to up the ante on late-night dining. Staff picks: Top craft cocktail bars. |
