After nearly bringing the United States into another illegal, unconstitutional war, this time with Syria over its alleged use of chemical weapons against its people, President Obama has, appropriately, backed down and decided to seek congressional approval so that the American people can have a say in whether we, as a nation, want to enter into another military conflict, one that has the potential to escalate into a major world war. Much is at stake in this potential conflict, and America would stand without its allies, which, with few exceptions, do not support President Obama's plans for military intervention in Syria. Sens. Mikulski and Cardin (a U.S. representative at the time) and Rep. Cummings all voted against the Iraq war under very similar circumstances when George Bush, a Republican, was in office. Let us hope that none has changed their stance against the unprovoked use of our military now that a member of their own party wants to take the country to war for the same reason. Call your members of Congress and let them know what you think about taking the country into yet another war. They need to hear from all of us.
