The new Volkswagen Passat is a very nice car. It's well behaved on the open road and has a good steering feel. The seats are comfortable for both short and tall occupants. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the handling is pleasant.
The interior size is impressive. Just about every car has a roomy enough front compartment, but the rear seat in this Passat is another matter entirely. It’s big enough for larger adults, and our nephew was able to sit in the back seat and with his legs crossed.
The trunk seems big enough to lose a week's worth of groceries in its confines and the rear seats can split and fold when the need for additional cargo capacity arises. The load floor, however, isn't quite flat.
I found the gauges easy to read and the controls easy to use. Our car had the upgraded Fender audio and navigation system, which worked well.
Larger and less costly, this new Passat strikes me as being a logical and compelling choice for those looking for an affordable family sedan.
