USF commit Asiantii Woulard to visit NC State this weekend

Winter Park quarterback Asiantii Woulard, who is committed to USF's 2013 recruiting class, will be taking an official visit to NC State this weekend for the Wolfpack's game against Wake Forest on Saturday (3 p.m.).

Woulard said his trip is more of a discovery venture than anything else and that he is still committed to the Bulls.

"It would take quite a bit," Woulard said Thursday when asked what it would take to sway his commitment. "I'm still committed … just taking my visits."

He said he doesn't reatlly know how he rates NC State currently, adding "I'll know more when I get up there."

Woulard said he expects to be taking a few more visits, but has none planned and is not sure what schools he might see.

It's been a tough senior year for Woulard, as well as for the Wildcats, as a whole. Woulard had a great summer, during which he won the Elite 11 quarterback challenge, along with which, for the winner, usually comes the tag of top quarterback in the nation.

Once the season started, however, things got a bit more difficult. Woulard's numbers have been decent, but Winter Park, for the first time in four seasons, failed to reach the postseason.

Last year was Woulard's first as a full-time starting quarterback at the varsity level after transferring from Orlando Freedom. His numbers were solid. He completed 60 percent of his passes for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns. He did have 10 picks.

This season, he has completed about 58 percent of his passes, while throwing for just over 1,400 yards and 10 touchdowns with only two interceptions.

Those are good numbers for most quarterbacks, but not for Woulard. He commands more in expectations, both statistically and in the win-loss column.

The 3-6 Winter Park record has made for a trying season.

"It's been rough," Woulard said of this season. "It was a big learning curve for me. I think I learned how to handle and deal with adversity."

The Wildcats travel to Ocoee on Friday night for the final game of the 2012 season.
