Each year, college coaches look to land as many big-name recruits as possible to validate their jobs to fans and to help build their programs. This year, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher accomplished all of that bringing in Edwards, the nation's No. 1-rated prospect by ESPN and 247Sports.com. Pushing 300 pounds with a 4.7 40-yard time, the imposing Edwards caused havoc throughout his high school career. He had 26 sacks, 66 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles his junior and senior seasons combined. He also comes with the added benefit of having a certain preexisting foundation in the program. Edwards' father, Mario Edwards, Sr., was a cornerback for the Seminoles in the late-1990s. Much like Timmy Jernigan a year ago, Edwards is expected to have an immediate impact.
