Red-Eared Slider turtle

A "Red-eared Slider," Florida's pet-turtle-turned-invasive-species, in a Maitland neighborhood, Monday, May 14, 2012. After 50 years of now-illegal pet sales, and subsequent releases by pet owners into the wild,  the semi-aquatic turtles remain a ubiquitous presence in central Florida's lakes and waterways.
