While Clayton W. Kirkland of Clermont was taking a road trip throughout the Southeast, he stopped at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. In one of the themed gardens that wrap around a hillside, he noticed a bee buzzing about among the many blooms, and when the pollen hunter alighted for a treat, Clayton had enough time to capture the colorful sight. Atlanta Botanical Garden was incorportated in 1976 and is one of the premier gardens of the Southeast. Visitors during April are in time for “Atlanta Blooms!” — an extravaganza of nearly 200,000 bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinth and crocus. The annual “Orchid Daze” exhibiton of orchids amid water features wraps up April 10.
