A Nashville man nearly tossed a Powerball ticket worth $1 million in the trash.
John Young, a truck driver that purchased the ticket at a Love's Travel Stop in Jackson, Tenn., almost threw away the winning ticket when he misread the numbers, Fox 17 in Nashville reports. After double-checking the ticket, he collected his prize at Tennessee Lottery's Nashville office.
Young becomes the 28th winner of a $1 million or more Powerball ticket since the lottery began.
The Mega Millions jackpot is up to $586 million as of Tuesday, the second-largest jackpot in the history of the game, which is played in 43 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Washington, D.C.
