Lake County Animal Services will host an animal auction at 11 a.m. Saturday at the shelter, 28123 County Road 561, Tavares.
The following animals will be up for auction: a mini stallion, Arabian mare, Arabian gelding and rooster.
Animals are sold "as is," but all horses must have a negative Coggins test. Minimum bids for horses start at $100.
Animals will be auctioned off to the highest bidder and must be removed from the property before 4 p.m.
Cash, money orders, certified check and credit cards will be accepted.

Benefit 5K Run/Walk
Marion County 4-H Club will host its inaugural "Color Me Green Fun Run" 5K at 9 a.m. Saturday at Tuscawilla Park, 829 N.E. Sanchez Ave., north of State Road 40 in Ocala.
The family-friendly event will benefit the Marion County 4-H youth development program.
Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Marianne Beck Memorial Library, 112 W. Central Ave. in Howey-in-the-Hills, is hosting a scrabble tournament from 2 to 5 p.m. every Monday in August. All ages are welcome.

Leesburg Masonic Lodge 58 will serve dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the lodge, 200 Richey Road, Leesburg. The meal will include spaghetti and meatballs, country fried chicken, corn on the cob, sugar snap peas, mashed potatoes, salad, dinner rolls, dessert and coffee, iced tea or lemonade. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 14 and younger.

'Wings and Wildflowers'
Lake County will have its third annual "Wings and Wildflowers Festival" set for Oct. 3-5 at Venetian Gardens in Leesburg. Vendors will be located outside and inside the community center.
Spaces available for rent will include 10-by-10-foot and 10-by-20-foot and cost from $50 to $200. Exhibitor and food vendor applications must be received by 5 p.m. Friday.
The festival will feature guided Segway tours through Emeralda Marsh, a family-friendly 5K run/walk, field trips in birding hotspots and wildflower havens. Some of the nation's top birding, wildflower and nature experts also will be on hand. This year's keynote speakers include Greg Miller, the inspiration behind the film "The Big Year"; Stacy Tornio, editor of the birding and gardening publication "Birds & Blooms"; and author Roger L. Hammer, who served as the director of Castellow Hammock Nature Center in Miami.

Smart Driver course
AARP Driver Safety Program's new Smart Driver course helps participants refine their skills and develop safer and smarter driving habits. This new six-hour class has been developed during the past two years after extensive research and expert input from various sources nationwide.
Upon completion of the course, Florida drivers 50 and older might be eligible for insurance discounts.
The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers, which includes a workbook and certificate. Payment must be by check; no cash or credit cards.
