WHAT: An exhibition by Josette Urso, the first participant in the new artist-in-residence program at the Art & History Museums — Maitland, wraps up this weekend. Urso makes paintings, drawings and collages.
"The most rewarding aspect of my residency was the opportunity to live and work in such a serene and equally complex and engaging location," Urso says. "The impact of the natural world here (filled with amazing plants and creatures), paired with the magical carvings and architectural details, creates a unique and lively environment. André Smith was generous to share such a special place and it is terrific to see now that his vision will continue to unfold."
Urso has shown widely in the United States and abroad in galleries, public institutions and museums, including the New York Public Library, the Drawing Center and the Bronx Museum for the Arts.
