How to photograph those beautiful Florida wildflowers

Orlando Sentinel

Florida’s spring is officially in bloom with an abundance of colorful wildflowers to be found on roadsides and parks all over the state. The bloom was a few weeks delayed like last year but there are several locations right now with beautiful displays.

To capture the photos for this post, I snagged my Olympus TG-1 tough camera, an all-weather point-and-shoot camera, and headed out the door.  I didn’t have to search long before I found a large area filled with several varieties of wildflowers in reds, pinks, and yellows. The field is on the shoulder of the Rhinehart Road exit of the SR-417 Northbound. On the Olympus, I chose the Landscape scene setting and turned on the Macro mode to allow close focus of the flowers.

If you need some help finding locations with active blooms, check out the site where you can find user reports of active blooms with photos from each location. So grab your camera and go flower hunting. Follow Joshua C. Cruey on Twitter @OSPhoto. Like us on Facebook: Orlando Sentinel Photography.
