"Mark the Shark" is living up to his name.
Captain Mark Quartiano, a seasoned commerical fisherman who has been featured on "Shark Week," caught a 14-foot long, 800-pound sea creature while fishing off the coast of Miami and now there's some debate as to what the massive beast could be, according to the Huffington Post.
Quartiano posted a picture of his catch Saturday on Instagram, identifying it as a dactylobatus he caught while filming a show set to air before the end of the year.
Better known as a hookskate, the prehistoric-looking creature was described as "a big gigantic whipping stingray" when Quartiano spoke with ABC News.
Hookskates are extremely rare and normally live at around 1,000 feet deep. Because the species is so rare, Quartiano let the creature go after snapping a few photos.
