The Seminole Wekiva Trail, a 14-mile urban, multi-use trail, runs on the former Orange Belt railway line. The trail runs from Markham Road near SR46 on the north end, to SR436 and Laurel Road on the south end.
The north end includes a section of off-road trails that run to the Wekiva River. If you are walking , running or on a mountain bike, is a nice detour.
Almost anytime of the day you find runners, walkers and bikers sharing the trail.
Historic markers dot the north section describing landmarks, mills , citrus packing houses and other industries that once lined the railroad tracks.
The mostly shady trail is a good choice on a day when the heat index is 105, but make sure you take plenty of liquids!
