A history of Central Florida water woes

In one of its many atrocities in Florida, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the 1960s dammed the Taylor Creek as part of a much larger - and ultimately aborted - effort to turn the nearby St. Johns River into a Frankenstein of levees, canals and dams. Deseret Ranches donated the land for Taylor Creek Reservoir.
