Astronaut's epic selfie and the best and worst selfies of the Internet

Love them or hate them, it seems that selfies aren't going anywhere.

Taking out your phone to take a picture of yourself during a life milestone (if you count standing half naked in front of your bathroom mirror a life milestone) has become second nature to some, from celebrities to the average Joe.

Selfies of celebrities garner attention from major news outlets, and some selfies of prominent people -- like President Barack Obama at Nelson Mandela's funeral -- have sparked outrage.

For every half naked selfie and other controversial shots, there are plenty of selfies roaming the web that make us smile. Some that come to mind include Ellen De Generes' star-loaded selfie at the 2014 Academy Awards and University of Connecticut men's basketball head coach Kevin Ollie's selfie with UCONN alumni Richard Hamilton and Ray Allen after the Huskies beat the Kentucky Wildcats 60-54 in the NCAA Final Four championship game.

During a fast-track spacewalk April 23, NASA astronaut Rick Mastracchio took an epic selfie from space, claiming the title of the most out-of-this-world selfie.

Get it.

In honor of this "astro-selfie", we've compiled the best and worst selfies on the Internet, from celebrities to Boston Marathon runners to a girl who was just in a plane crash.
