Celebrate Ash Wednesday, Lent on your mobile devices

Christians around the world are celebrating Ash Wednesday and relinquishing some luxuries for Lent, but those not giving up their technology can use their mobile devices to follow the religious tradition.

Officials at AT&T gathered these apps that Android and iOS users might find helpful:

iConfess is a mobile confession guide. It helps users prepare for confession by letting them flag items for reference during confession, create reminders of what to consider for the next confession, and a built-in notepad to recall important points to discuss with a priest. It's available in the App Store for $1.99.

The Stations of the Cross app features Pope John Paul II's Bible-based interpretation of the ceremony with text and pictures. It also has Spanish-language content. The app is available in the App Store for $0.99.

The Lenten Magnificat Companion 2013 app has chants, liturgical texts, prayers, essays, poetry and penance service for Lent. It's available in the App Store for $0.99.

Lent Finder app helps the faithful find when Lent begins and ends, as well as details on specific fasting events. The free app is available in Google Play.
