Several law enforcement agencies have formed a task force to investigate a spate of recent arson fires in Central Florida, the Orlando Police Department said Friday.
In a press release, the Police Department said the task force would consist of eight agencies: OPD, the Orlando Fire Department, the State Fire Marshal, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Daytona Beach Police Department, the Sanford Police Department and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
"The main objective is for the investigators to share any arson related information which may be useful" in identifying a suspect or suspects in the recent fires, the release said.
Officials said 16 suspicious fires have been reported in Orlando since April 2014, 10 in Sanford and three in Daytona Beach. All of the fires apparently occurred between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m., Thursday through Sunday, the release said.
