Pieces of World Trade Center

The Sept. 11 memorial behind <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100410200000" title="Windermere" href="/topic/us/florida/orange-county-%28florida%29/windermere-PLGEO100100410200000.topic">Windermere</a> Town Hall on Friday, May 27, 2011. Windermere was one of the first cities in Central Florida to receive a piece of the World Trade Center wreckage. A local Boy Scout initiated the request to the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORGOV0000115" title="Port Authority of New York and New Jersey" href="/topic/transportation/port-authority-of-new-york-new-jersey-ORGOV0000115.topic">Port Authority of New York and New Jersey</a>. The memorial was installed last year.
