The Florida State piece

<b>Not so fast . . . </b>  It was widely assumed when Miami was put into a division opposte <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="OREDU000030" title="Florida State University" href="/topic/education/florida-state-university-OREDU000030.topic">Florida State</a> that the two Florida schools would be centerpieces in the annual <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="EVSPR000038" title="ACC Championship Game" href="/topic/sports/acc-championship-game-EVSPR000038.topic">ACC Championship Game</a>. But it hasn't happened. Miami has yet to get there. Florida State has played in only one of the title games -- the first one in 2005 -- and upset <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="OREDU0000161" title="Virginia Tech" href="/topic/education/colleges-universities/virginia-tech-OREDU0000161.topic">Virginia Tech</a> to reach the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLTRA0000003" title="Miami Orange Bowl " href="/topic/sports/football/miami-orange-bowl--PLTRA0000003.topic">Orange Bowl</a>. <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000176" title="Florida State Seminoles" href="/topic/sports/college-sports/florida-state-seminoles-ORSPT000176.topic">The Seminoles</a> have not won a BCS bowl since their national title game win in the 2000 Sugar Bowl.

But it hasn't happened. Miami has yet to get there. Florida State has played in only one of the title games -- the first one in 2005 -- and upset Virginia Tech to reach the Orange Bowl. The Seminoles have not won a BCS bowl since their national title game win in the 2000 Sugar Bowl.
