Black bear released in Ocala National Forest

A black bear trapped in the Springs Community in <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100414000000" title="Seminole County" href="/topic/us/florida/seminole-county-PLGEO100100414000000.topic">Seminole County</a> is released December 8, 2005, into the southern part of the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLREC000081" title="Ocala National Forest" href="/topic/environmental-issues/natural-resources/ocala-national-forest-PLREC000081.topic">Ocala National Forest</a>. After the bear was sedated at Rock Springs Run Preserve off State Road 46, Kim Annis, a University of Florida graduate assistant, worked up vital statistics on the bear and outfitted it with a radio tracking collar. The male bear weighed 185 pounds and was estimated to be about 3 years old.
