How much will the automatic March 1 federal spending cuts hurt?

    • Not much at all. President Obama is exaggerating the pain in an attempt to get Congress to come up with a deal to stop the cuts.
    • They will hurt badly. Thousands of Connecticut jobs will likely be lost, and that will mean more anguish for the unemployed, a longer recovery here and more taxpayer help for the jobless.
    • They will hurt some, but they won’t affect most people directly. Some federal jobs will be lost over time, but most people won’t be affected personally.

But one poll shows Americans don’t care much, maybe because of fatigue over constant budget battles in Washington. Will the “sequester,” as it’s known, hurt Connecticut a lot or only a little? Are Democrats exaggerating its impact? Or are Republicans blind to its pain? What’s your view?
